HAWAII WIC PROGRAM BACKGROUND In its concern over the high infant mortality rate in the United States and the health and nutritional status of pregnant women and young children, Women, Infants and Children (WIC) Services is a nutrition program that provides qualifying families with health education, supplemental foods, and referrals. The program serves pregnant and breastfeeding women, infants, and children under the age of five.
